Sandra Callier

Sandra Callier has thirty years of experience in the design, management, and evaluation of a range of international health and development activities. She has been with AED since 2005 and currently directs the USAID-funded Hygiene Improvement Project (HIP). Over the past ten years, she has managed major global health projects, including USAID’s Environmental Health Project (EHP). In these positions, she has provided leadership for promoting water, sanitation, and hygiene behavior change activities within and beyond the health sector. Ms. Callier has special expertise in organizational development and strategic planning. Much of her recent work has centered on supporting scale and sustainability through partnering and coalition building within countries and globally, for example through the Global Public-Private Partnership for Handwashing.  Prior to joining AED, she worked for U.S. government agencies (USAID, USDA, and Peace Corps), NGOs, and the private sector.  Her broad range of work experience spans over twenty five countries and includes resident assignments in Guatemala, El Salvador, and Taiwan.  She is fluent in Spanish and holds an MA from Johns Hopkins SAIS.
