Orlando Hernandez
Orlando Hernandez is a behavioral scientist specializing both in formative research to design behavior change interventions as well as in monitoring and evaluation of behavior change programs and projects targeting different population segments and service providers. He has developed several monitoring and evaluation manuals for different health sub-sectors after developing consensus among different stakeholders (academia, implementing agencies, donors), is familiar with monitoring and evaluation approaches of different donor agencies, and has worked in a variety of health topics including: maternal and child health, reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, environmental health, and drug abuse, smoking, and obesity prevention. He has both international and domestic experience. He taught Descriptive and Inferential Statistics as an Associate Professor; he managed the evaluation and social analysis function for USAID in Honduras, where he participated in tracking a portfolio of more than 60 projects; and he is currently the M&E Specialist for a hygiene promotion project and directs a research project focusing on behavioral determinants of handwashing with soap in four sites across the developing world. He holds a doctorate in Social Psychology from the Université de Toulouse, France, and speaks French and Spanish fluently. He also has a working knowledge of Portuguese, having successfully completed work assignments in lusophone countries.
