Kokeb Kassa

Kokeb Kassa, M.B.A., is a marketing and communications specialist who is currently serving as Technical Director for AED's role in the Ethiopia TransACTION project run by Save the Children U.S. For this project, Ms. Kassa provides technical direction and guidance for behavior change communication (BCC) activities, community mobilization, monitoring and evaluation, and technical staff. Previously at AED, Ms. Kassa served as the country director for AED's Health Communication Partnership Project in Ethiopia where she developed and implemented BCC programs across multiple focus areas including HIV/AIDS, maternal and child health, family planning, and avian and human influenza. Ms. Kassa has extensive experience working with most-at-risk populations (MARPs). She has been involved in work with PEPFAR HIV prevention programs targeting youth and MARPs, including university students and commercial sex workers, has extensive expertise in BCC, and has played a pivotal role in the development of tools, strategies, and documents that are innovative and provide guidance within the field of prevention in Ethiopia and other parts of Africa. Previously the manager of UNDP's Future 500 National HIV/AIDS Awareness Campaign, Ms. Kassa developed and implemented a strategic marketing plan that highlighted role models' positive actions to combat HIV/AIDS. She has also worked with the private sector in product management and business planning with corporations such as America Online and Worldspace Corporation. Ms. Kassa has an M.B.A. from Georgetown University in Marketing Communications and a B.S. in Marketing and Communications from Cornell University. She speaks English and Amharic.
