Mark Rasmuson

Mark Rasmuson, MA, MPH, serves as the Vice President and Director of The AED Center for Global Health Communication and Marketing. He specializes in behavior change communication and is responsible for managing and providing technical direction to the center's 20+ projects. Formerly, Mr. Rasmuson served as the director of AED's worldwide HealthCOM project for six years and as the senior BCC advisor to the BASICS (Basic Support for Institutionalizing Child Survival) project. From 2000 to 2002, he helped establish the USAID office in Vietnam, overseeing a $7.5 million portfolio in health and humanitarian assistance, including programs in HIV/AIDS, disabilities, disaster mitigation, and maternal and child health. As field director for the seminal USAID-funded Mass Media and Health Practices Project in Gambia (1978-1985), he contributed to the first international BCC project to document significant national changes in childcare behaviors. Since 2002, he has served on the Steering Committee of the U.S. Coalition for Child Survival, a coalition of NGO's and advocacy organizations dedicated to increasing awareness and funding for international child survival programs. Mr. Rasmuson has short-term and long-term experience assisting countries throughout the world, including Afghanistan, Indonesia, Nepal, Nigeria, Russia, and Vietnam. He holds an MPH in International Health and an MA in International Communication.
