Anton Schneider

Anton Schneider is AED's Regional BCC Specialist based in Bangkok, Thailand, where he supports the communications and behavior change aspects of AED's work in the Asia region, including Vietnam, Lao PDR, Nepal, and Bangladesh.  Previously, he was the AI Country Coordinator and Behavior Change and Communication Advisor for the AED Avian Influenza Behavior Change and Communications Support Activity in the Lao PDR.  He has over 20 years of experience designing, managing, and evaluating social marketing and BCC programs.  Drawing on extensive experience from commercial marketing communications, Mr. Schneider has designed and managed the BCC aspects of programs in diverse issue areas in health and development.  He also has extensive experience in commercial, behavior change, and communication research including methodology design, sample designs, and analysis of data.  Mr. Schneider joined AED in 2000 as co-director of the CHANGE Project, subsequently moving to Lao PDR as AI-BCC's country coordinator in 2005 and the regional office in Bangkok in 2009.  He has provided technical assistance and training in more than 20 countries, especially in Asia, and served as Asia Regional Manager for SOMARC's social marketing portfolio for four years, based in Jakarta, Indonesia.  His communication experience includes mass media, media relations, community-based communication, interpersonal communication, and social mobilization.  He has worked with a wide variety of partners, including government, NGO's, commercial manufacturers, and media in Asia and Africa and has directed social marketing and communication programs in five Asian countries.
