Joan W. Schubert
Joan W. Schubert, MPH, is currently the Senior Technical Advisor for Behavior Change Communication on the BASICS III Project. She has more than 25 years of experience developing, implementing and managing public health and behavior change communication projects around the globe, particularly in West and Central Africa and, more recently, in Asia. She has completed three long-term assignments abroad with AED in DR Congo (HealthCom) and Ghana (LINKAGES) and has worked for CARE International, first as the Deputy Director for the Population Unit based in Atlanta, Georgia, and then in Niger as the Assistant Country Director with responsibility for reproductive health and child survival programs. She has extensive experience with program management, strategic planning, conference and workshop design and training, social mobilization, message and materials development for a variety of media including print and radio, and qualitative research and analysis. She holds her MPH from Tulane's School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine and an undergraduate degree in anthropology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She speaks and reads French fluently.
