Action for West Africa Region Reproductive Health and Child Survival Project (AWARE-RH) Project (2003-2008)
The Action for West Africa Region Reproductive Health and Child Survival Project (AWARE-RH) is a USAID-funded project (2003-2008) that aims to strengthen and sustain the ability of West African institutions to enable public and private sector agencies to meet the reproductive, maternal and child health needs of the region. Of the four strategic objectives, identifying and sharing best practices, advocacy, strengthening of African institutions, and health reform, AED is the lead partner for policy and advocacy and contributes to strengthening African institutions. Under AWARE-RH, AED is tracking country implementation of five international treaties, and assisting countries to improve their reproductive health, malaria, and maternal and neonatal health policies. AED is also helping regional institutions develop management, marketing and technical skills so that these organizations become regional resources that can provide technical leadership and assistance to countries throughout West Africa to improve their population’s health status.
