The CDCynergy project, jointly implemented by AED and the University of Western Cape (UWC) and funded by the CDC, worked to increase the number of children between the ages of two and six receiving vitamin A supplementation and raised awareness and consumption of vitamin A-rich foods. The program implemented a community-based vitamin A intervention using the CDCynergy CD-ROM (an interactive training module developed for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) as a strategic tool. The South Africa Intervention took place in Mdantsane, a sub-district in the Eastern Cape Province.
