GATHERdata (2009 - ongoing)
http://www.healthnet.org/gather
GATHERdata is a set of digital tools developed by FHI 360-Satellife that facilitates the timely reporting of data from dispersed and remote points - such as health clinics, schools, and small towns - to central locations such as ministries, district headquarters, and head offices. The platform was designed for use in resource- and infrastructure-constrained environments. Clients use cell phones, handheld, laptop, or desktop computers, voice over phone lines, and SMS (text messaging) to collect and report the data that programs need to function effectively. Importantly, GATHERdata users develop new applications to reduce the time, effort, and cost of collecting data. GATHERdata has been deployed in Uganda (disease surveillance); Liberia (teacher training certification); and Mexico (community-based women’s and reproductive health service provision and logistics).
