Hygiene Improvement Project (2004 - 2009)
http://www.hip.watsan.net/

The Hygiene Improvement Project (HIP) brings a new generation of improved technologies, approaches, measures, and technical assistance in improving health through better hygiene behavior. HIP was created to respond to a single task order for hygiene improvement and is partially funded by USAID. HIP serves as a sole source indefinite quantity contract (IQC) to which interested USAID missions can apply. The cornerstone of the HIP approach is working at scale to achieve and sustain behavior change in three specific areas in at least five countries: hand washing, safe disposal of feces, and safe water storage and treatment. HIP is further charged with supporting and collaborating with both multilateral and international agencies, as well as PVOs and NGOs, in their efforts to improve hygiene behaviors. HIP is currently being implemented in Nepal, Madagascar, Ethiopia, Uganda, and Peru, in collaboration with UNICEF. HIP is a consortium of AED (prime), the Manoff Group, the International Water Resources Center (IRC) in the Netherlands, and ARD.
