Improving Family Planning & Reproductive Health in Ukraine (2005 - 2010)

AED is a subcontractor to JSI Research & Training Institute on the USAID-funded Improving Family Planning & Reproductive Health in Ukraine (IFPRH) project. This project aims to make family planning and reproductive health services more accessible to the population and improve the quality of these services to bring them in line with international standards. Simultaneously, it will educate the population -- both men and women -- about the importance of family planning for family health and the benefits of family planning over abortion. The new project will also work to reduce sexually transmitted infections, which are a serious health problem and contribute to infertility and the rapid spread of HIV-AIDS. The project will work in 3 oblasts in its first year, expanding to 15 oblasts by the end of the project. AED is responsible for the behavior change communication (BCC) component (BCC) as well as the private sector component, which is working with pharmaceutical companies and pharmacists to improve the availability of low-cost contraceptives.
