Tanzania Marketing & Communications: AIDS, Reproductive Health & Child Survival Project (T-MARC) (2004 - 2009)

Center for Public-Private Partnerships The Tanzania Marketing and Communications for AIDS, Reproductive Health, Child Survival and Infectious Diseases (T-MARC) Project, a Private Sector Program Task Order, is working with Tanzanian businesses to develop or expand markets for health products for HIV/AIDS prevention and care, family planning, child survival, and infectious diseases that will achieve demonstrable and sustainable health impact. In addition, AED is working with public and private stakeholders to design and implement health communications campaigns that will increase the adoption of healthy behaviors and support the growth of desired health product/service categories.

As part of its “Full Market Impact”® (FMI) or “total market” approach, T-MARC has launched new male condom, female condom, and oral contraceptive brands, and is working with commercial partners to introduce an array of new “public health products” to the Tanzania market. AED is supporting the development of a locally controlled organization, the T-MARC Company Ltd, which will takeover direct management of the project by April 2007. The T-MARC Company will continue to work under AED guidance until the T-MARC project ends in August 2009.
